W&T hosted a Platform65 open mic poetry and music session on 1 June 2013, with special guest, the Paris-based zheng harpist, writer and literary translator, Fiona Sze-Lorrain. It was an intimate afternoon with wondeful poetry, beautiful music and awesome talent. Thank you to all who joined in. Watch this space for more acoustic sessions and literary events - coming soon! These are one of those moments when I wished I had a video on me. What a night! We had a small group at the last poetry open mic session for the year and it was fun, fun, fun!
How to describe the headline acts Meryl Jones and Anti-Poet? Meryl delighted the crowd with very adult themes we could all identify with, incl her thoughts on 'democratic porno' while Anti-Poet got the crowd all riled up with their 'punk poetry' (my words, not theirs) that was both irreverent yet astutely observed. Watch this website for next year's sessions :)
Thank you to Daniel Cockrill from Bang Said The Gun for another fantastic session and the open mic-ers who dared to share!
Daniel Cockrill of Bang Said The Gun and headline act Jacob Sam La-Rose put on a fantastic show last night at our first ever open mic poetry session. (Go on Dan, do DIY and Di again!) Kudos to the brave souls who shared their poetry. In fact, I'm so inspired, I may have to get up on stage and share at the next session - on Nov 16th!
