The Shim Sham Tap Jam celebrates the anniversary of Bill 'Bojangles' Robinson (declared 'International Tap Day' by US Congress in 1989) with a night of tap dance, jams, film clips and stories. Watch rare footage of tapdancers from the 1920s to the present day and enjoy a traditional live tap challenge. The teachers of Shim Sham Tap Jam, Nada and Avalon, will be hosting the evening. Nada Karsakov

Nada Karsakov studied with Grant Swift in her home town of Melbourne, Australia before coming to live in the UK. She has attended tap festivals in Sweden, Australia, Greece, Berlin and the USA. She dances regularly with Top Shelf Jazz. In addition to teaching, she also performs as Josephine Shaker - a cabaret tapdance act. Nada is the founder of Shim Sham Tap Jam and also is a guest teacher at the 2012 London Swing Festival.

Avalon Rathgeb

Avalon Rathgeb trained in NYC with the American Tap Foundation for "Tap City" in 2009 and 2011. She performed Derrick K Grant'ss residency and Ray Hesselink's tribute to Eleanor Powell. Avalon was a company member of Grant Swifts "TeAyPe" from 2009-2010 in Melbourne, Australia.   She studied intensively with "Manhattan Tap" director + choreographer Heather Cornell in the summer of 2011. Currently she is working closely with choreographer Simeon Weedall.
