Imogen Robertson

Picture
Imogen Robertson grew up in Darlington, studied Russian and German at Cambridge and now lives in London. She directed for film, TV and radio, including the award winning Numberjacks, before becoming a full-time author, and also writes and reviews poetry. She was commended in the National Poetry Competition in 2005. Imogen won the Telegraph’s ‘First thousand words of a novel’ competition in 2007 with the opening of Instruments of Darkness, her first novel. Her second novel featuring the detective duo of Harriet Westerman and Gabriel Crowther, Anatomy of Murder, was published in April 2010. Imogen's website: http://imogenrobertson.wordpress.com

Helen Castor

Picture
Helen Castor is a historian of medieval England, and a Fellow of Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge.  Her last book, Blood & Roses, a biography of the fifteenth-century Paston family, was longlisted for the Samuel Johnson Prize in 2005 and won the English Association’s Beatrice White Prize in 2006.  She lives in London with her husband and son.

Helen's latest work is She-Wolves, about seven extraordinary women who ruled England during the five hundred years between the Conquest and the end of the sixteenth century. The book evokes the vanished worlds of these seven charismatic women in a compelling combination of the personal and the political, of private and public lives.

Patrick Dillon

Picture
Patrick Dillon is the author of Truth and Lies (Penguin, 1996), Madam Geneva (Headline, 2003), and The Last Revolution (Jonathan Cape, 2005). His latest book, The Story of Britain (Walker Books, 2010), is a single volume history of Britain for young people. It tells history through its stories, from Alfred burning the cakes through to the Blitz, and weaves them together into a complete chronological narrative of the people of Britain and Ireland. An American edition by Candlewick will follow in 2011.
