                                          Life At The Edge
                                          Jan Greenman and Luke Dicker
                                          Nov 14, 2010. 12.00pm

Jan Greenman, author of Life At The Edge, shares her experiences of parenting a child with Asperger Syndrome, ADHD and Chronic Anxiety - how her life has changed, the challenges she has overcome and the choices she continues to face. This is followed by Luke Dicker, Jan's son, sharing his experiences of what it means to live with these conditions; his struggles and his triumphs, and how he has emerged as a mentor to his peers. This is an event you won't want to miss - frank, honest and heartfelt. To book your place, please go to the bottom of this page.

About Jan Greenman and Luke Dicker

                                          Picture
In a previous life Jan Greenman was the treasurer of a private merchant bank. Since the birth of her son Luke she had to give up paid work – Luke is a full-time occupation. Jan’s book is a brutally honest memoir of the sometimes nightmarish, sometimes wonderful, always full, life with labels she and her family lead. The only truly predictable thing about Luke remains his unpredictability.

Luke Dicker is diagnosed with ADHD, Asperger Syndrome and Chronic Anxiety and has packed more drama into the first 18 years of his life than most people manage in a lifetime. But now as he reaches maturity Luke’s progress is clear for all to see. Three  years after being expelled from school and attempting suicide, he has passed his exams, has a job, a good group of friends, mentors younger pupils at his new school, and has become an adept public speaker. Luke has won two awards for his public speaking; The Malmesbury Young Citizen of the year award and The Rotary Club’s National Young Citizen of the Year award 2010. Jan and Luke share their experience in the hope that it will give support and encouragement to families like theirs.

Watch the BBC News report on Luke accepting his Rotary Club award from TV presenter Konnie Huq below.
