                                          Katie Hickman
                                          The Pindar Diamond
                                          Oct 5, 2010. 7pm

Bestselling author Katie Hickman reads from her latest stunning historical novel The Pindar Diamond. Followed by Q&A and book-signing.

                                          Reviews of The Pindar Diamond
‘Lust, greed and danger among the Levant traders of 17th century Venice… sensual prose and opulent setting.’ Tatler

‘In 1604, rumours are washing through Venice’s demimonde that sultan’s Blue Diamond is in the city. Nuns, precious gems, swashbucklers and courtesans, plus a plot to keep you on your toes, are stirred and shaken into pure escapism.’ Sunday Times

‘Hickman lingers lovingly among strange people in exotic locations.  Her ability to build up an atmosphere is splendidly illustrated in this novel…Hickman’s summer pager-turner is beautifully written, glamorous, disturbing and very dark.’ Wendy Holden, Daily Mail

‘As well as evoking both the splendor and the stink of La Serenissima, there is also a dark fairy-ale feel here, most particularly in the giantess Maryam and her troupe. A vividly sensuous tale’  Sinclair McKay, Daily Telegraph
