Although now best known as a stand up comedian, Rosie Wilby started out as a singer songwriter fronting her own band ‘Wilby’. Highlights of this ‘other’ career included performing at Glastonbury Festival, supporting artists including Jamie Cullum and Bob Geldof and releasing an album ‘Precious Hours’.  Lowlights included performing the album launch gig at the Camden Monarch with her partner Donna just days after their house had burned down.

The story of band relationships and breakups, bizarre auditions, parties and gigs was captured in words in a column Rosie’s Pop Diary that ran from 1996-2000 in the now defunct Making Music Magazine and in pictures by photographer friends Karlos Antrobus, Karen Brand and Alison Binney.

Mixing visuals, storytelling, stand up and acoustic versions of the songs written at the time, Rosie brings back to life the emotional rollercoaster of trying to make it in the music business at the height of Britpop… and investigates whether her column really told the whole story…

At the time Rosie lived in Finsbury Park and was the rock & pop critic for the Ham & High and Highbury & Islington Express.

Later in the year, there will be a book published by Tollington Press compiling some of the old columns, song lyrics, photos and new writing recapping what happened after the band broke up.

Rosie’s previous solo show The Science Of Sex has toured the UK, won a Fringe Report Award 2010 and was a sellout at Camden Fringe 2009, Cambridge Comedy Festival 2009 and Cambridge Science Festival 2010.
