                                          Scars
Written and directed by Bryan Oliver
Eva Pope, Birgitta Bernhard and Amanda Ray-King
                                          Dec 9, 2010. 7pm

Through the lives of three women, Scars explores personal loss and its implications. The play reflects the impact and terrible consequences for those who experience tragedy. It explains how suffering can dictate one's behaviour and actions and shape one's personality.

The characters are individually pushed into change. First they are shocked, paralysed, traumatized by the events they individually went through, but eventually they have to summon the courage to face their fears, their needs, their feelings of resentment and unresolved guilt. In the process, they confront their, in parts ruthless truth, their lack of seeing beyond their own pain and their innate fear of intimacy. To book your place, please go to the bottom of this page.

Praise for Scars at Soho Theatre reading:

"It is a searing, emotionally exhausting but ultimately uplifting and life affirming piece of compelling storytelling, beautifully performed and intelligently written. It brilliantly and surprisingly challenges our own humanity and our understanding of living. That is the purpose of theatre."- Keith Boak (Television Director Dr Who, Holby City, etc)

“I was deeply affected by this text delivered by a strong committed cast. For a moment I thought I had become an emotional softie, but I was soon relieved to find out that not a single audience member had been left untouched.’  - Michele Celeste  (Playwright)

“Scars held me throughout and raised moral questions that I am still debating with myself.“ - Kate Harper  (Actress)

‘An intense and unsettling experience, Bryan Oliver’s accomplished three-hander draws an audience into its protagonists’ damaged lives, each re-defined by a single moment of shattering personal pain. There are no wasted words, no superfluity: we were emotionally engaged from first to last.’
Christopher Oxford (Director, The Tennyson Agency)
