This project, developed by Woolfson & Tay, with photographer-filmmaker Daniel Quinones of Woolfcub Productions, is a celebration of elders in the Southwark community. Its launch is timed to coincide with the Southwark Silvers celebration in April 2011.

This photographic exhibition presents the life stories of a group of elderly Southwark residents through the lens of their ‘special’ objects and places. It will also feature an added interactive component of inter-generational dimension. Performance poet and renowned educator Jacob Sam-La Rose will facilitate a series of workshops with young poets. These 16-25 year old poets/performers will have the opportunity to meet with several of the elders, to listen to their stories and to respond to these stories with expressive, creative pieces of their own. The outcome of these workshops will be captured on film as part of the exhibition. This launch event will feature short talks by the elders and performances from a few of the young poets, as well as a reading with Booker-nominated author Paul Bailey.

This exhibition and event is made possible with the support of the Arts Council England and the Bermondsey Square Community Fund.
